I went to Stacks this morning to meet a friend for breakfast. Upon being seated I overheard a party in an adjacent booth talking about giving and getting; and folly and wisdom and discernment.

One guy was saying, “I have discerned that it is wise to give my time and energy and attention to TEAM APOLLOS! For people find Apollos attractive and eloquent!”

The other guy was saying, “I have discerned that it is wise to give my time and energy and attention to TEAM REGINA GEORGE! For she has influence and the powers of manipulation!”

Then the waitress came by to refill waters, and she said, “I have discerned that it is wise to give my time and energy and attention to TEAM CEPHAS! For he is boisterous and blustery!”

And then I began to wonder what TEAM God was on? Who does God give His time and energy and attention to? Certainly God would ONLY give to THE BEST! And of course God would – without a doubt – be getting THE BEST RETURN ON HIS INVESTMENT!”

And then God said, “My paradigm and passionate preference for giving and getting will seem like overwhelming FOLLY to you. And ultimately, My FOOLISH, yet ardent, investment will destroy TEAM REGINA GEORGE, and all the ‘wisdom of the wise;’ and My seemingly absurd value system will thwart all the discernment of ‘the discerning.’ I will make foolish the wisdom of the world, and it pleases Me through folly to save anyone and everyone desperate enough believe in My ‘FOOLISHNESS.’ For My foolishness is wiser than TEAM APOLLOS, and My weakness is stronger than TEAM REGINA GEORGE. You do well to consider the people on My team… My team is comprised of not many wise according to worldly standards, not many powerful, not many of noble birth. But I chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; I chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; I chose what is low and despised in the world!”
