Yesterday I shared some crazy stuff that came up in my morning meeting with The Boss. Specifically, some crazy stuff that He was saying in the book of Acts. Today …the craziness continued.

For example there was a big meeting where some people were upset because certain traditions and rules weren’t being followed (and – to be fair – there were some undeniably crazy situations in the past having to do with these rules – see Exodus 4:24-26). Anyways, there was A LOT of friction and wrangling and squabbling about whether or not these traditions and rules were still mandatory or not. But eventually it was decided (much to the chagrin of some) that the traditions and rules were no longer compulsory. Matter-of-fact, it was determined that the rules and traditions had always been too heavy and unbearable and troublesome and unsettling. But even after this ruling, there continued to be quite a lot of dissension and disagreement about the customs in question (see Galatians 2:11-14).

Then The Boss told me that a couple guys who were historically BFF – broke up! One friend trusted a guy named Mark, but the other friend did not trust Mark because Mark had previously proven to be unreliable (or at least incompatible). Was this guy being unfair toward Mark by not trusting him? Was he suspicious of Mark? Well, whatever you think about the guy who didn’t trust Mark – there arose a sharp disagreement between these BFFs, and they separated from each other.

Then The Boss told me about HOW PAYING ATTENTION TO TRULY IMPORTANT AND INCREDIBLE STUFF works. He said, “I open people’s hearts to pay attention to what is being said by the people I send to share important and incredible (but seemingly silly/foolish) stuff” (see Acts 16:14).

Then The Boss told me about a slave girl who was annoying that guy who didn’t trust Mark, and so that guy commanded the evil/annoying spirit in the slave girl to GET OUT OF HER! And the evil/annoying spirit did! But the evil/annoying spirit in the slave girl was how her handlers made $. So the handlers filed a complaint against the guy who didn’t trust Mark, and things got pretty violent! The guy who didn’t trust Mark, and another fella who was traveling with him, got attacked, and beaten, and thrown into prison and put in stocks. So… they decided to sing songs to The Boss. And The Boss magically freed them from their bonds and got them out of jail. And then… they went to the house of one of the jail guards for food and rejoicing! And then the magistrates said, “We were just kidding around! We didn’t mean anything by attacking you, and beating you, and imprisoning you.” And the guy who didn’t trust Mark said, “You beat us, and throw us in prison; and then say just kidding. NO!” So the magistrates said, “Ok, we’re sorry! Please just leave!” So the guy who didn’t trust Mark saw that the magistrates were committed to their superficiality, and they weren’t interested in talking about the damage they had done, so he departed.
