Sermon Text: 1 Samuel 13

Outline:

  1. Scared
  2. Self-sufficiency
  3. Slavery

Reflection Questions:

  1. What are you scared of? …Where, and when, do you find yourself hiding, worried, or tense?
  2. Think back to a scenario 15 years ago when you were scared …what were you scared of?  What was the primary focus of your fear? …From where you stand now, would you still classify that as the most primary concern?
  3. Where do you truly feel self-sufficient in life?  Where are you “in your element”? …What’s something you’re “really good at”, and therefore you do not require help from Jesus?  Read Luke 5:1-11 and John 3:1-15 and write down 5 ways in which Peter and Nicodemus were humbled and invited into a healthy relationship with Jesus Christ.
  4. What are you enslaved to?  Who are you obeying?  Read Romans 6:15-23 and then repent and submit to Jesus.
