This week I saw the following things…

I saw someone being swept away in a raging river, and this guy’s friends jumped in the river with him and they all got swept away together. As I pondered this, I wondered to myself, “Perhaps it would’ve been better if that guy’s friends had stayed on the bank of the river and tethered themselves to a tree or a rock or something solid and immovable, and offered their friend a version of assistance where they help him out of the deadly raging river (instead of “helping” him by choosing to jump in and getting swept away alongside him).”

I saw someone offering a quarter, a dime, a button, and a random piece of foreign currency (I think it was Canadian) for something that cost $4.29. And this person was shouting, “I have paid! I have paid! I have offered money for this product!” And I thought to myself, “Yes. It is true. This person has paid. They have paid for a portion of the product. They have offered 35 cents for a product that costs $4.29, which means they still need to pay $3.94.” But I did not dare attempt to tell this person about their deficit, for they were foaming and foolish, and they were adamant that they should never have to offer more than they have already offered.

I saw someone saying, “Out of the depths I cry to the LORD! O LORD, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy! If You, O LORD, should mark iniquities, O LORD, who could stand? But with You there is forgiveness, that You may be feared. I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in His word I hope; my soul waits for the LORD more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning. O Israel, hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love, and with Him is plentiful redemption. And He will redeem IsraelĀ from all His iniquities.”
