The morning meeting with The Boss primarily consisted of Second Corinthians, chapters five through eight.

Here are my main takeaways…

  1. For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling. …we groan, being burdened – not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.
  2. If we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you.
  3. From now on we regard no one according to the flesh.
  4. We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians; our heart is wide open. You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted in your own affections.
  5. I am acting with great boldness toward you; I have great pride in you; I am filled with comfort. In all our affliction, I am overflowing with joy.
  6. For even if I made you grieve, I do not regret it—I rejoice, not because you were grieved, but because you were grieved into repenting. For you felt a godly grief, and godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death. For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, but also what eagerness to clear yourselves, what fear, what longing, what zeal! …I grieved you in order that your earnestness for us might be revealed to you in the sight of God. Therefore we are comforted.
  7. We want you to know about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia, for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy AND their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord, begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints. Accordingly, we urged Titus that he should complete among you this act of grace, and make sure that y’all excel in this act of grace.
  8. I give my judgment: this benefits you, who a year ago started not only to do this work but also to desire to do it. So now finish doing it as well, so that your readiness in desiring it may be matched by your completing it.
  9. As a matter of fairness your abundance at the present time should supply their need, so that their abundance may supply your need, that there may be fairness.
