What’s so great about Gaius? Gaius is a truthful guy! TRUTHFUL??? …Like Gaius believes the truth that God created everything out of nothing, and Jesus is the eternal Son of God, etc.? Well, Gaius DOES believe in those truths, but the primary truth vibes you’d get from Gaius is of the Romans 7:24, John 4:29, 1 Timothy 1:15, 2 Samuel 11, Psalm 51, and Genesis 38 variety. And we are invited to REJOICE GREATLY in the fact that Gaius walks in this *JOHN 4:29 version of TRUTH!

What about Diotrephes? Well, Diotrephes talks wicked nonsense, and he refuses to talk to people who want to do the RIGOROUS and JOYFUL business of John 4:29. For example, I know of a PhD “Christian” counselor who talks wicked nonsense and refuses to have a John 4:29/Genesis38/2Samuel11/Psalm51 conversion with his child (he refuses to fight for real and robust relationships …he’s like King Saul and/or Nabal – and one of his children is like David). ***AND GET THIS …the uneducated common man/apostle John says, “If I come, I will bring up what he is doing.” Can you imagine bringing up what this wicked nonsense talker is doing (the wicked nonsense talker is probably gonna have a reaction similar to King Saul …SPEAR CHUCK’n!).

[Now for a quick observation from Jude’s missive, which connects to Diotrephes] Remember – there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions. It is these who cause divisions (they are devoid of the Spirit].

SO WHAT SHOULD WE DO?

Build yourself up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.

What about Demetrius? Demetrius is worth imitating! Do not imitate evil but imitate good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God. Demetrius has received a good testimony from the truth itself. And we also add our testimony. Demetrius is like Joanna (Chuza’s wife), and/or the widow who tithed the penny coins, and/or Mary in Luke 10, and/or King David in Psalm 51.
