The NP (National Park) – specifically Yosemite – analogy is indispensable!
Vital clarification is available/awevailable VIA the NP analogy!
By seeing the “officer nomination” season(s) through the lens of ECPC as a NP – clarification and confidence are bolstered, buoyed, buttressed, and boosted by seeing and savoring the significant and sundry categories of authority figures and influential/impact figures – and vital permitted and privileged figures!
- Authority figures = park rangers (ordained and installed elders and deacons).
2. Influential/impact figures = Alex Honnold and Tommy Caldwell and Dean Potter (cultural, social, stewardship, advocacy authority). These are the people who LEAD in massively impactful and meaningful ways, and they are free from the hindrances of being disdained due to gatekeeping and policing responsibilities. These leaders are like the woman in Mark 14 who anointed Jesus’ body for burial, and who was subsequently commended by Jesus unlike anyone else in the the entirety of the Bible.
3. Vital permitted and privileged figures = YOSAR (Yosemite search and rescue) and YMS (Yosemite mountaineering school and guide services). These leaders are passionately and joyfully permitted to operate with all kinds of authority and initiative in the NP! These leaders are not like elders & deacons & park rangers …these guys are like Agabus, and Huldah, and Simeon called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, and Anna, and the daughters of Philip, etc.
