Psalm 104

  1. Emphasis on soul. Not superficiality. Not Dilettantism. Not Vapidity. Not popularity. Not punctilliousness. Not pedantry. Not Externalism. Not Cosmetics. Not trivialities. Not showiness. Not pretense. BUT SOUL.
  2. God wears LIGHT for clothes.
  3. God builds Himself a chamber on the waters.
  4. God rides around in CLOUD chariots.
  5. God makes WIND His messengers.
  6. God ministers through fire (I immediately imagine camp fires, and the backyard fire pit; and then I imagine the fire where SMA and Jesus hung out in Babylon).
  7. God likes to give good drinks to wild donkeys.
  8. Birds!! (vv.12, 17) …my current favorite bird is the Northern Mockingbird because I saw and heard one yesterday at a rest area, and I was impressed with how it repeated a specific sound/phrase 3 to 5 times, and then immediately switched to a completely different sound – and I thought, “that thing sounds like a car alarm (which I don’t like the sound of, but I like that this bird makes that sound! …it’s just way different – and way more pleasant – when the Northern Mockingbird makes this sound as opposed to when a vehicle makes the sound).
  9. From God’s LOFTY ABODE – He waters the Mountains!!
  10. God likes to feed livestock (with grass specifically).
  11. God likes to give plants to humans – for them to cultivate for feasting (and God specifically likes to give humans wine to GLADDEN their hearts; and oil to make their faces shine; and bread to strengthen their hearts!
  12. God is happy about trees (e.g. Cedar trees).
  13. God is happy about HIGH MOUNTAINS and wild goats, and ROCKS, and rock badgers!
  14. God is happy about the MOON (and the sun) and marking seasons.
  15. God is happy about the creatures that come out and creep around during the night time.
  16. God is happy about LIONS HUNTING their prey (*God likes to provide prey for LIONS… & specifically how the LIONS don’t just eat food, but how LIONS like to hunt and eat food). #Calvin&Hobbes. #Imagination.
  17. God is happy about Samuel Hamilton (i.e. how man goes out to his work and to his labor until the evening).
  18. O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have God has made them all!
  19. The earth is full of God’s creatures.
  20. AND THIS IS MY FAVORITE PART OF THE WHOLE POEM: “Go out on the sea. The sea teeming with creatures innumerable, living things both small and great. Go out to the Erkigsnek, or join the explorations of the Dawntreader – and BAM – there’s LEVIATHAN לְשַׂחֶק.
  21. Leviathan, the crew of the Erkigsnek, the LIONS, etc. – these all look to God to give them food in due season – and when God gives them food – they are filled with good things!
  22. When God hides His face …Leviathan, the crew of the Erkigsnek, the LIONS, etc. – these are all dismayed! …When God takes away their breath, they die and return to dust.
  23. God is Illustrious.
