Sermon Text: 1 John 1:1-2:6

Reflection Questions:

  1. How do you feel about God being real (i.e. really involved and invested in your life)?  What do you think about the fact that God really does – at times – interrupt your agenda, and mess with your personal preferences?
  2. Is the Gospel (the news of Jesus living and dying for you) more real to you than what other people think of you, or that mistake you made yesterday, or your shortcomings in a certain department of life?  How could you deliberately attempt to see and savor the Gospel more?
  3. Have you ever been joyfully exposed?  You didn’t have to hide, you didn’t have to adopt a posture of timidity due to your shame – you felt free to confess your sin because you had the assurance of no condemnation?  Talk about, or write about, a time you felt this way?
