“That Times Of Refreshing May Come”
Acts 3:11-26
Rev. Tyler Dirks
Sermon Outline:
- Redirection
- Rejection
- Redemption
Reflection Questions:
- Instead of focusing on the miraculous healing of the lame beggar, Peter forces everyone to focus on the fact that we murdered the Son of God. How do you feel about that?
- How do you feel about having conversations about your wretchedness? Do you receive these conversations or run away from them?
- How do you feel about the fact that Scripture does not “honor the patriarchs” by simply focusing on ‘the positives,’ and/or steering clear of the details that emphasize their evil?
- What scenes in Scripture feel indecent to you? What do you do with the fact that the Bible is oftentimes not “tasteful” or “tactful”?
- In Acts 3:22, Peter says, “Listen to whatever Jesus tells you.” What are 3 to 5 things that Jesus tells you – that you have a hard time listening to?
- In Acts 3:20, Peter says that God wants to give us times of refreshing from His presence. Seriously ponder the presence of God (as it is described in Scripture). Think of specific scenarios of God being present with people in the Gospels (Immanuel). How do people experience the version of refreshment that God offers?
