“Jesus Consequences”
Acts 17:1-9
Rev. Tyler Dirks
Sermon Outline:
- Changes the Trajectory
- Cripples the economy
- Caught in His Current
Reflection Questions:
- What is your favorite disruptive and/or controversial thing Jesus says in the Bible?
- When have you engaged Jesus in a specific follow-up conversation about a point of emphasis where you felt He was being a bit too extreme?
- What are 2 primary and personal implications ofActs 17:2-3 (“Paul reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and proving that it was necessary for the Christ to SUFFER and to rise from the DEAD)? …see also John 3:14, 5:39; and Luke 24:27, 44.
- How do you currently participate in the market for respectability, validation, and achieving control through fear? …Deep dive? Dabble? Disrupt?
- What if just one of the unflattering stories about David was true of you, and what if God published that story? Would you rage against God for shaming and dishonoring you? OR would you invite everyone to joyfully come and meet a God who exposes everything you’ve ever done?
- When was a time you experienced the real consequences of believing in Jesus of Nazareth (it wasn’t mere philosophy, or theological knowledge, or abstract theories)?
