“Patience & Power”
Acts 16:16-40
Rev. Tyler Dirks
Sermon Outline:
- Punishing
- Patience
- Power
Reflection Questions:
- What kinds of punishing situations have you experienced? For example, being followed around by someone with a spirit of divination – repeating one sentence of accurate information about you for days many days? Or being seized and dragged and falsely accused by people who are upset with you because you threatened their wealth?
- When was a time you chose to be patient and endure hardship because it was a way to experience fellowship with Jesus (Philippians 3:10), and fill up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions (Colossians 1:24), and partner with the body of Jesus in the tribulation and the kingdom and the patient endurance that are in Jesus (Revelation 1:9)?
- When was a time that you chose to be patient and endure evil in order to give stubborn people time to repent (2 Timothy 2)?
- When was a time you sang Psalm 2 in the face of injustice?
- When was a time you chose to be “absurdly” confident in God, while being in an explicit position of weakness?
